    I sincerely hope your editorial cartoon is not setting our students up for failure. The cartoon implies that all a student has to do is turn 21 and they are legal to carry. The truth of the matter is then they can apply for a CHL after the required training, submit an application including photo and fingerprints and pass a Background investigation by Texas Department of Public Safety. All this cost money and usually requires several months
    between taking required classes and actually receiving their permit.

    Let hope no one gets into trouble after seeing the cartoon. A criminal record for carrying without a permit would kill most chances of any type of government financial aid along with closing doors on a majority of employers.
