I have always believed in the value of seeing the world through the eyes of love. By this, I do not mean seeing life through rose-colored glasses, but rather creating within ourselves a harmony that leads us to fall in love with life.
It’s exchanging a smile with a stranger, remembering people who are no longer in our lives in our daily routine, listening to a song they used to enjoy or putting into practice a piece of advice they once shared with us.
One of my all-time favorite movies, “When Harry Met Sally…” by Rob Reiner, taught me a unique way to become the love we often seek, looking for the right person but sometimes forgetting that we have to become that right person ourselves.
If I have learned anything, it is that love is far from perfect. On the contrary, if you ask me, I would say that love is a rather complicated term to explain. We spend our lives believing in what love means to us and what we seek in others when I have come to understand that love is born primarily within us.
Although there is certainly no manual on how to fall in love with life, we can start by being grateful for being here. Learning to enjoy the present is a great act of love; it is like being at peace with the past without worrying about the future.
I think it is very kind to thank those around us for simply being there, understanding that love is shown in many ways and that it is not necessary to understand them all. Simply embracing them in a warm embrace can sometimes be enough.
I find it extraordinary how love can transform everything, whether within ourselves or reflected in our relationships with others. Because if I have learned anything in my 21 years of life, it is that dedicating love to the right people and things is when I have felt the most peace in life.
In this month of love and friendship, let’s not forget to give ourselves the love we always seek to find. Be grateful for every day you open your eyes in the morning and, if you’re a little like me, enjoy the routine of having a good cup of coffee in the morning as if you were enjoying a meeting with friends or a conversation with that special someone.
Love is present in everything if we set our minds to it because life is not always as bad as it seems. Looking around us with affection can become a great union with what we long to find.
