Edinburg voters head back to the polls Saturday to decide in a runoff the final seat in the City Council, Place 2, with early voting continuing through Tuesday.
Hilda Salinas, Hidalgo County Elections Department administrator, told The Rider Wednesday early-voting sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Four polling locations will open on Election Day, including Canterbury Elementary School, the department’s annex building, Edinburg Parks & Recreation and UTRGV Student Academic Center VestĂbulo Lounge.
Moises Segovia, a Council Place 2 candidate, said voters care most about safer, family-friendly spaces and basic infrastructure improvements. “Better lighting, better streets,” he said were the top concerns residents voiced during his door-to-door outreach.
Segovia said his council priorities will center on collecting street-condition data, fixing chronic drainage issues and improving street lighting near parks.

Salinas said runoff certification questions were handled by the city’s canvassing process earlier in November.
Segovia added he began campaign outreach in August and connects with voters through block walking and livestreams and reels on social platforms. “My biggest reach would be social media,” he said, noting it allows constant access even when doors go unanswered.
Jason De Leon, a Council Place 2 candidate, did not respond to interview requests as of press time.
Segovia urged voters to return for the runoff.
“If the people want change, they need to go out and vote,” he said, acknowledging runoffs often see lower participation. “Let’s finish what we started.”
