The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Jan. 12 and 19
Jan. 12
12:59 p.m.: Officers responded to a possible theft of a UTRGV golf cart in the Liberal Arts Building North on the Edinburg campus. It was later discovered the cart was relocated by an employee.
Jan. 13
5:21 p.m.: A student reported his bike was stolen from the bike rack outside the Health & Physical Education I Building on the Edinburg campus. He said the bike was left secured with a lock. The case is under investigation.
7:07 p.m.: A student reported his scooter was taken from a bike rack outside Unity Hall on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
7:20 p.m.: Officers responded to an active fire alarm in a dorm inside Unity Hall on the Edinburg campus. After inspection, no smoke or fire was observed. Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management arrived and reset the smoke detector. The area was cleared for re-entry.
Jan. 14
9:49 a.m.: Officers on patrol identified a man matching the suspect description of a theft reported the previous day in Lot E-36 on the Edinburg campus. Officers confirmed his involvement and found drug paraphernalia on him, which he attempted to destroy. The man was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and taken to the Edinburg Police Department Jail Facility.
Jan. 15
2:16 a.m.: An officer responded to a report of a man possibly consuming alcohol in the Casa Bella apartments clubhouse lobby on the Brownsville campus. The man was identified as a student, and it was determined he was not drinking alcohol and he resided in the location.
11:27 a.m.: An officer assisted an employee who wanted to file a report regarding a missing cart in Rusteberg Hall in Texas Southmost College.
Jan. 16
1:47 a.m.: An officer responded to a vehicle leaking gasoline in Lot E-34 on the Edinburg campus. The unattended vehicle was deemed a hazard by the Edinburg Fire Department and was towed after attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful.
Jan. 18
7:50 p.m.: Officers contacted a man who had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for UTRGV property. He was arrested for criminal trespass and transported to the Brownsville Municipal Jail.
Jan. 19
4:10 a.m.: A student reported his UTRGV account was accessed by an unknown person who changed his banking information. The case is under investigation.
