The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between March 3 and 10.
March 3
1:19 p.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding a minor traffic collision involving a UTRGV Volt and a passenger car in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
6:39 p.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding an employee who accidentally struck the building while attempting to park her vehicle in the Student Academic Center on the Edinburg campus. Minor injuries were reported. Two individuals involved were transported to the nearest hospital for further medical evaluation.
March 4
9:50 a.m.: A student reported losing her debit card on campus; however, the student observed unauthorized charges made to her card after the fact. The case is under investigation.
3:09 p.m.: An officer responded to a traffic collision involving a university golf cart and an employee’s personal vehicle in Lot B-6 on the Brownsville campus. The vehicle was unattended at the time of the accident, and the golf cart operator did not claim any injuries.
March 5
7:04 p.m.: An officer responded regarding markings discovered on a stall in the men’s restroom in the Learning Center on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
8:01 p.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding a student who reported finding damage to her vehicle while it was parked and unattended in Lot B-1 on the Brownsville campus. The case is under investigation.
March 6
10:44 a.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding a student feeling ill in the Academic Services Building on the Edinburg campus. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the student to a hospital for further treatment.
March 7
9:22 p.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding a non-affiliated woman who was injured when a hand railing fell off and hit her shoulder in the Baseball Stadium on the Edinburg campus. The woman refused medical attention.
March 8
2:03 p.m.: An officer was dispatched regarding a non-affiliated woman who was struck by a baseball while attending an event in the Baseball Stadium on the Edinburg campus. The woman advised officers she was struck on her ankle with a foul baseball, but would seek medical attention on her own.
March 9
11:24 a.m.: A student reported her headphones were stolen from her backpack. The student was able to locate her device by using its GPS at an off-campus location. The case is under investigation.
1:22 p.m.: A student reported her unsecured scooter was stolen at a bike rack in front of the Dining and Ballroom Complex on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
1:34 p.m.: An officer responded regarding a verbal argument between a student and a professor in the Main Building on the Brownsville campus. After further investigation, it was determined no crime occurred. The case will be forwarded to Student Rights and Responsibility for further review.
4:06 p.m.: An employee reported finding scratches on his vehicle while it was parked and unattended in Lot E-8 on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
8 p.m.: Officers responded regarding markings found outside of the women’s restroom in the Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
March 10
2:15 p.m.: An employee reported an intoxicated man inside the Texas Southmost College Science, Engineering and Technology restroom in Brownsville. Officers contacted the non-affiliated man, who was placed under arrest, charged with a public intoxication class C misdemeanor and transported to the Brownsville Police Department city jail for booking procedures. He was also issued a criminal trespass warning for all UTRGV properties.
5:40 p.m.: An employee reported receiving harassing emails from a former employee, whom he found concerning. The case is under investigation.
