The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Nov. 10 and 16.
Nov. 10
8:57 a.m.: An employee reported a handicap railing was detached from the exterior wall of the Environmental Health & Safety Building on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
1:38 p.m.: Officers responded to a non-affiliated woman causing a disturbance and making outlandish statements inside the Main Building U Central Office on the Brownsville campus. She was issued a criminal trespass warning and escorted off campus.
Nov. 11
1:31 p.m.: A student reported a concerning comment written on a whiteboard in the Life, Health and Science Building on the Brownsville campus. The officer reviewed the comment and erased it. After investigation, it was determined that no crime had occurred.
1:57 p.m.: An officer responded to a report regarding an employee who struck his desk in frustration in the Academic Support Facilities on the Edinburg campus. The employee said he was adjusting to new procedures and confirmed he was fine. No crime occurred, and he left campus for the day.
Nov. 12
8:52 a.m.: A student reported her bag was stolen in the Music, Science and Learning Center on the Brownsville campus. It was later determined the bag had been turned in as found property the day before.
2:34 p.m.: Officers responded to a 911 call from a student in the Student Health Center on the Edinburg campus. Staff reported the student had just arrived and was being assessed by medical personnel.
9:07 p.m.: Officers responded to a vehicle collision in the Sugar Road Annex building on the Edinburg campus. Multiple students were involved in a single-vehicle collision while operating a UTRGV golf cart. One student was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Nov. 13
10:31 a.m.: Officers responded to a fire alarm in the Health Affairs Building West on the Edinburg campus. No fire or smoke was found, and Environmental Health and Safety reset the panel. It was later determined a pull station had been activated by an unknown person. The case is under investigation.
11:13 a.m.: A student reported his electronic device and laptop missing after he left them inside a classroom in the Health Affairs Building West on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
3:28 p.m.: An officer assisted a student by cutting a faulty combination lock securing her scooter in the University Recreation on the Edinburg campus. Ownership was verified before removing the lock.
Nov. 14
3 p.m.: A student reported a missing package delivered to The Village apartments on the Edinburg campus. It was later discovered another student resident had picked it up for safekeeping.
Nov. 15
12:15 p.m.: An officer investigated a two-vehicle collision in Lot E-6 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
1:53 p.m.: Officers responded to an ill student who had fainted in the south entrance of the Interdisciplinary Engineering & Academic Building on the Edinburg campus. Emergency Medical Services transported the student to a hospital for further evaluation.
Nov. 16
1:51 p.m.: Officers responded to reports of smoke and an alarm coming from Unity Hall Room N205 on the Edinburg campus. Officers activated the fire alarm to evacuate residents and called the fire department. The source was a wax candle left burning on a desk. The area was ventilated and cleared for residents to return.
