The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between Oct. 20 and 25.Â
Oct. 20
11 a.m.: A student reported her 14-year-old sister missing and was last seen in the Student Union on the Brownsville campus. Officers conducted a thorough search and found her at the Texas Southmost College Library unharmed. She was released to her adult brother.
6:18 p.m.: A student reported finding a paint chip on his vehicle’s bumper in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus and believed it was caused by another vehicle. Security camera footage was reviewed, and no collision was observed.
Oct. 21
9:33 a.m.: An employee reported feeling ill and requested Emergency Medical Services on the Brownsville campus. The employee was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.
1:26 p.m.: An employee reported, while trimming grass in Lot E-8 on the Edinburg campus, a projectile broke the window of a nearby-parked vehicle.
6:49 p.m.: A student reported being involved in a minor two-vehicle collision with no injuries in Lot E-12 on the Edinburg campus. The parties initially reached an agreement; however, the student later decided to file a report.
Oct. 22
5:49 p.m.: An officer investigated a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Lot E-28 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
8:16 p.m.: Officers investigated a two-vehicle collision that occurred in Lot E-5 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
Oct. 23
7:44 a.m.: An officer responded to a report of a shirtless, non-affiliated man inside the Education Complex on the Edinburg campus. The officer asked if he needed medical attention, and the man signaled yes. The man was issued a criminal trespass warning and Emergency Medical Services transported him to a hospital for further evaluation.
10:47 a.m.: An officer and an Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management employee responded to the Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium in Edinburg regarding a fire alarm. No smoke or fire was observed, and it was determined faulty equipment triggered the alarm.
12:59 p.m.: Officers responded to a panic alarm at the UT Health Psychology Clinic in Edinburg. They contacted a new employee who stated she had accidentally pressed the alarm button.
1:39 p.m.: An employee reported witnessing a known vehicle collide with an unattended vehicle in Lot E-7 on the Edinburg campus and leave the area without providing notification. The case is under investigation.
Oct. 24
12:16 p.m.: Officers responded to a fire alarm in the Health Affairs Building West on the Edinburg campus. An investigation revealed that a smoke detector had been triggered by burnt food from a cooking class. Environmental Health, Safety & Risk Management cleared the building for re-entry.
6:40 p.m.: An employee reported seeing a man run out of the rear exit door while she entered the closed UT Health RGV Behavioral Health Clinic on the Brownsville campus. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the individual. No damages or missing items were found. The case is under investigation.
Oct. 25
1:43 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to the Village Apartments on the Edinburg campus regarding a suspicious man knocking on a student’s door. She reported seeing the man walking northwest of the complex. Officers conducted an area check but did not locate him. No crime was determined to have occurred.
6:25 p.m.: Officers responded to Gate 2 at the Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium in Edinburg for a disturbance. They found a man attempting to enter with a backpack and a beer can, violating stadium policy. He was escorted off the premises.
8:57 p.m.: A non-affiliated football player was transported to a hospital for an injury sustained during the game at Robert and Janet Vackar Stadium in Edinburg.
