I believe the older I get, the more I realize something about me. I have very bad attachment issues. To a point where I missed people who don’t even care about me anymore, or people who don’t even remember me.
Maybe besides a few people that I don’t truly miss, I still find myself missing a lot of old friends.
I feel like it got bad during my sophomore year of high school after my first relationship. Even after we graduated, even after I arrived on campus, I was never able to fully let go.
That kind of affected all of my relationships and friendships moving forward.
Finding genuine closure is essential, provided circumstances don’t prevent you from obtaining it.
As the years go by, I somewhat got better at letting go. From November 2025 to May 2026, I dropped a lot of my friends I met in high school, but part of me still kind of misses them.
Was it for the better? Yes, but it doesn’t mean it feels right. I think the right choices won’t feel right all the time, but it doesn’t have to feel right to make it right, if that makes any sense.
At the end of the day, I keep moving forward. As much as it hurts, you can’t stop and wait around.
I keep telling myself that, and I think it works lovely. Is it OK to miss someone? Maybe it is.
I feel like you can enjoy the memories you made with someone or with a group and look back on them. I just believe you can’t try and fight for it back; people change, and everything is changing around us. Maybe you outgrew them, but that’s OK.
You shouldn’t be someone you don’t want to be; you shouldn’t be with people if you feel disconnected. At the end of the day, you are you, and no one can change that besides yourself.
