Jalayah Ingram, a marketing junior, is a guard for the UTRGV Women’s Basketball Team and led the Vaqueros with 14 points during their first home game on Nov. 3, her debut.
Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: “I like to draw.”
Q: What got you into basketball?
A: “I just remember playing. I just picked it up. My parents gave me a basketball one day and, from there, I just started playing. In kindergarten, I started playing with my cousin, so that probably got me into playing basketball a little bit.”
Q: Why have you continued?
A: “It was just fun. … I love the competitive nature of basketball, so it was really fun.”
Q: What’s your go to game day meal?
A: “Some hot fries with a lemonade. And that’s it.”
Q: Do you have a favorite basketball player?
A: “Stephen Curry. And for females, I like Maya Moore.”
Q: What do you like to do for fun outside of basketball?
A: “I’d probably like to binge watch shows like ‘The Proud Family.’”
Q: What’s your favorite music genre?
A: “R&B.”
Q: Do you have a favorite movie?
A: “‘Friday.’”
Q: What keeps you going everyday?
A: “My parents. My family.”
Q: What would you say is your biggest goal?
A: “To make it overseas or go to the WNBA.”
Q: Do you have a favorite song?
A: “I don’t have a favorite song, but I have a favorite artist, Bryson Tiller.”
Q: What do you like most about UTRGV?
A: “The community.”
