Victor Loa, a kinesiology junior from Los Fresnos, is a left hand pitcher for the UTRGV Baseball Team. Loa was named one of the Top 54 best pitchers by the College Baseball Foundation.

Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: “I like to listen to music. I listen to music all the time.”
Q: Who/what got you started in baseball?
A: “My dad. My dad got me started in baseball a long time ago.”
Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration?
A: “I would have to say my dad and, obviously, my relationship with God, for sure.”
Q: Who is your favorite baseball player?
A: “Clayton Kershaw, easy.”
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: “I listen to slow music, you know, I’m more on the R&B side of things. It’s kind of surprising, but I love the slow jams.”
Q: Which shows/movies do you watch?
A: “I used to be a big Marvel guy before they changed everything. So, I would have to say Marvel, and my favorite show is probably ‘Game of Thrones.’”
Q: Do you have any hobbies?
A: “I like to watch sports on my off time. I like to binge watch movies. It doesn’t really matter, whatever interests me. I like to golf when I get the chance with my friends, and yeah, you know, just like to enjoy my free time outside of baseball.”
Q: What is your biggest motivation?
A: “Definitely my wife. My wife plays a lot [of baseball]. And what I try to do day in and day out and, obviously, [is] building a relationship with God, on and off the field. So, just being a better man overall is really what motivates me.”
Q: What do you like most about UTRGV?
A: “I love being close to home. I love having my relatives and friends, you know, come out to watch us play. I love the atmosphere and all the fans and all the commotion we get throughout the weekend series and, obviously, mid weeks when we have them here. So, that’s always nice. I love the UTRGV.”
Q: What are your biggest goals?
A: “Make it to the pros is obviously my lifelong dream and getting a degree and being able to pursue something that I’ve always wanted to do outside of baseball, which is obviously physical therapy. So, those are definitely my two biggest goals. And obviously, give everything back to my parents after everything they’ve given me throughout my life.”
