Melissa Schuttle and her son Sean Schuttle, of Boy Scouts of America Edinburg Troop 1954, created their own box pinhole projector to safely view the solar eclipse on Monday outside the Physical Science Building on the Edinburg campus. The cereal box viewer allowed indirect eclipse viewing during the partial phase that the Rio Grande Valley experienced.

Attendees came prepared for the Eclipse Viewing Party hosted by the Society of Physics Students at UTRGV with their own handmade eclipse T-shirts. Over 400 people showed up to view the celestial event on the Edinburg campus.
Physics senior Armando Herrera played a crucial role alongside physics Associate Professor Nicolas Pereyra in the setup of the Orion Atlas EQ-G Computerized GoTo Telescope for the eclipse viewing party.
