Gunner Naiver is an entrepreneurship redshirt freshman from Dallas. Navier is a wide receiver for the UTRGV Football Team and will be kickstarting the university’s first game.
Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: “A fun fact about me is that I’m a nerd. I love ‘Star Wars,’ and, like, ‘Lord of the Rings,’ and ‘Batman’ and all that stuff.”
Q: What got you into football?
A: “My dad is a coach, so he kind of introduced me to it, and then I fell in love with it.”
Q: What’s made you continue football?
A: “My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I’ve always wanted to, like, glorify him through my talents.”
Q: Who’s been your biggest inspiration throughout it?
A: “My biggest inspiration is probably Tim Tebow because he really just displayed his faith throughout football.”
Q: Do you have a favorite football player?
A: “I like C.J. Stroud a lot. He plays for the [Houston] Texans.”
Q: What do you like to do for fun outside of football?
A: “I like to fish, I like to lift weights, Bible study. And that’s about it.”
Q: What’s your favorite music genre?
A: “My favorite music genre, right now, I’ve been listening to a lot of country but, as the season will go on, I’ll start changing it up a little bit.”
Q: Do you have a favorite song?
A: “Probably ‘Tennessee Whiskey,’ right now.”
Q: Do you have a favorite movie?
A: “My favorite movie is definitely ‘Revenge of the Sith.’ It’s a ‘Star Wars’ movie.”
Q: What keeps you going everyday?
A: “Definitely my faith in Jesus and just Christianity as a whole.”
Q: What are your biggest goals right now?
A: “Biggest goal right now is for us to be the Southland Conference Champions, for sure.”
Q: What do you like most about UTRGV?
A: “My favorite part about UTRGV is definitely that it’s always hot, palm trees everywhere.
