
Updated 10:08 p.m. March 25: A university official told The Rider UTRGV police received a report of a possible bomb threat but no credible risk was identified.
Out of caution, University Police conducted an evaluation of the facility, including the deployment of a K-9 unit, according to Patrick Gonzales, University Marketing and Communications vice president.
The incident remains under investigation.
Original Story: University Police gave the all clear to return to the Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg campus after officers surrounded the building and restricted access during an investigation to an unknown incident.
Authorities did not confirm the nature of the incident. The Rider tried to contact Patrick Gonzales for an interview regarding the situation, but he did not immediately answer phone calls or messages.
Students were seen waiting outside while alarms went off.
After a period of investigation, alarms stopped and students were allowed back inside. Police have since cleared the area.
Neither university officials nor police have released an official statement.
