Ramirez April 23, 2019 1 min read The Brownsville Fire Department responded to a report of smoke earlier today at the Biomedical Research Building, according to Mario Guerrero, the cityโs assistant fire chief. โWe had a little smoke scare here with one of the boilers for the biomedical facility,โ Guerrero said. โIt was being serviced and, apparently, it was left in service, but it malfunctioned.โ Students, faculty and staff were asked to evacuate the building. โEverything is good to go, there’s no fire or any danger anymore,โ he said. โRight now, weโre going to have one of our fire inspectors double check the fire alarm system to make sure itโs working properly and then we’ll let the students back in.โ VICTOR G.
