
The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between April 14 and 19.
April 14
1:36 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
3:47 p.m.: An officer responded to a student who had a single-vehicle traffic collision with a fixture in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
4:47 p.m.: A student reported he shared his phone number with a woman who is not affiliated with the university and feels uneasy due to her strange behavior. He was advised to contact the campus police department if she attempts to reach out to him. Additionally, he was provided with information about university resources for support.
April 15
11:37 a.m.: Officers responded regarding three non-affiliated men inviting students to their church in the Student Union on the Edinburg campus. The officers informed the subjects of the university’s soliciting policy, and they left the area without incident.
3:09 p.m.: An employee reported receiving a concerning email from a student and was worried about his well-being. Officers contacted the student, who clarified that his email was taken out of context and was seeking assistance with a campus issue.
8:12 p.m.: A student reported she received unwanted explicit videos on a social media platform from an unknown person. The case is under investigation.
April 16
11:21 a.m.: Officers responded to a student feeling ill in the Mathematics & General Classrooms Building on the Edinburg campus. Emergency Medical Services transported the student to a hospital.
3:26 p.m.: An officer met with a student who reported on April 12 she was harassed by Mexican border officials while crossing the border to Matamoros. The student also mentioned that while traveling through Mexico, she was stopped by an unknown group of individuals who took her identification card and searched her vehicle. The student stated that she wanted the incidents documented since her personal information was compromised.
3:58 p.m.: An officer met with an employee who stated a student was possibly mismanaging funds related to a student organization. After further investigation, the elements of a crime were not met.
9:51 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-36 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
April 17
8:55 a.m.: An officer assisted an employee who fell and sustained an injury in the Clinical Education Building on the Harlingen campus. The victim refused medical services and signed a refusal.
3:05 p.m.: A student reported being harassed by another student in the University Library on the Edinburg campus. After further investigation, it was determined that no crime occurred and the case remains under investigation.
9:59 p.m.: An employee reported backing up into a newspaper box by the walkway near Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. The vehicle and the newspaper box sustained no damage, and no injuries were reported.
April 18
7:13 p.m.: An officer discovered an unsecured double-decker bus in Lot B-4 on the Brownsville campus. The officer found a set of keys and a UTRGV fuel card inside the bus. The officer collected these items for safekeeping.
April 19
8:51 a.m.: Officers were dispatched regarding an active burglary alarm in the UT Health RGV Internal Medical Education Wing in Weslaco. Upon further investigation, it was determined an employee had accidentally activated the alarm.
10:13 p.m.: An officer responded to an active burglar alarm in the Harlingen Institute of Neuroscience Building. The officer checked the entire building, which was found to be secured and undisturbed.
