Justin Leal, socialology senior

Q: Did you expect UTRGV to win this first game?
A) Handy: “Yes.”
A) Leal: “A hundred percent.”
A) Krieger: “I would say a strong yes.”
Q: Why?
A) Handy: “Just our performance last year, I think it was in the bag.”
A) Leal: “Because we are the best school in the entire world, that’s why.”
A) Krieger: “I honestly had a dream about it last night, I manifested this.”
Q: What has been the highlight of the game, so far?
A) Handy: “I think the interception that we caught in the third quarter; that was the highlight for me.”
A) Leal: “I think coming here and being with my best friends in the whole world is the highlight of the game.”
A) Krieger: “For me it was probably the beautiful ensemble that the band played, in the halftime show, it almost brought me to tears.”
Q: In your opinion, who was today’s standout player or fan?
A) Handy: “If I’m being honest, I can’t pick one player. I think the whole team did great as a whole.”
A) Krieger: “I do wanna say that standout fan was my boy, [Leal,] right here. Because I was really afraid of this game, just the social pressures of being here, and he gave me the confidence to come out here. And I feel like that honestly helped the team win, too.”
