Chazlyn Dettor, a biology freshman from Killeen, Texas, is a forward for the UTRGV Women’s Basketball Team. Dettor scored 17 points for the Vaqueros in the game against the Lamar University Cardinals Dec. 2.
Q: What is a fun fact about yourself?
A: “I love to shop in my free time.”
Q: Who got you into basketball?
A: “Definitely my dad.”
Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration/role model?
A: “Probably both my parents. They work really hard and definitely show me what it means to have integrity and be an athlete. And just be a good person overall.”
Q: Who is your favorite basketball player?
A: “I really love A’ja Wilson.”
Q: What kind of music do you listen to?
A: “My favorite genre’s probably R&B.”
Q: What shows/movies do you like to watch?
A: “My favorite show of all time has to be ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,’ but any crime show, really. If it’s crime, I’d watch it.”
Q: What do you like most about UTRGV?
A: “Definitely the family environment. When you come here, everybody in the team is really like a family. And it’s just great to be around such good people with positive energy.”
Q: What other sports do you like to play?
A: “I played soccer and volleyball growing up, so probably both of those.”
Q: What are your biggest goals?
A: “My biggest goal is definitely to become a doctor. So, that’s what I want to do when I’m done with basketball.”
