
The following are among the incidents reported to University Police between March 24 and 30.
March 24
7:59 a.m.: An officer responded to a dog inside the University Library on the Brownsville campus. Upon arrival, the officer was able to get the non-dangerous dog out of the building.
1:45 p.m.: An officer responded to an injured student who had fallen in the Life & Health Science Building on the Brownsville campus. Emergency Medical Services transported the student to a hospital for further evaluation.
8:52 p.m.: A student reported a woman she used to be friends with entered her dorm without her permission to retrieve an item she wanted back in Heritage Hall on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
March 25
1:36 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot E-9 on the Edinburg campus. No injuries were reported.
7:40p.m.: A student reported her vehicle was damaged while parked and unattended in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus. The case is under investigation.
March 26
1:53 a.m.: University officers assisted the Edinburg Police Department in responding to an aggravated robbery at the intersection of North Sugar Road and West McIntyre Avenue. The victim reported the suspect was seen running northward near the Edinburg campus after the incident. As a result, an emergency notification was sent to the campus community. Officers from both Edinburg and UTRGV conducted a search but were unable to locate the suspect. Further investigation revealed the suspect had fled away from campus. Subsequently, an all-clear notification was sent to the community.
1:08 p.m.: A student reported an injury after she fell in the Mathematics & General Classrooms Building on the Edinburg campus. She requested Emergency Medical Services and was later transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
5:41 p.m.: An officer responded to a suspicious man who appeared to be intoxicated in the Student Union on the Edinburg campus. Upon interviewing him, the officer determined he was intoxicated and posed a danger to himself and others. The man was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
7:09 p.m.: Officers were dispatched regarding an ill person in the Student Union on the Edinburg campus. Upon contact with the non-affiliated man, officers discovered he had been consuming alcohol earlier while on campus, which contributed to his illness. Emergency Medical Services transported the man to a hospital for further evaluation. Additionally, he was issued a criminal trespass warning from UTRGV properties.
March 27
2:53 p.m.: An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle traffic collision in Lot H-4 on the Harlingen campus. No injuries were reported.
March 28
12:08 p.m.: A student reported his vehicle sustained water damage from the heavy rain in Lot E-16 on the Edinburg campus.
March 29
3:16 p.m.: An officer responded to assist the Brownsville Police with a man lying on the ground at Ringgold Road and West University Boulevard. After investigating, a Brownsville Police officer took the man into custody and led the investigation.
March 30
8:06 a.m.: An officer and the Edinburg Fire Department responded to an active fire alarm in the Liberal Arts Building North on the Edinburg campus. They checked the building and did not find signs of smoke or fire. Emergency Medical Services was informed.
