Nov. 16
2:40 p.m.: A student suffered a seizure while at the Library Bookstore on the Edinburg campus. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported the student to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for further medical evaluation.
9:30 p.m.: An officer responded to Heritage Hall on the Edinburg campus in reference to an upset student in Lot E25. She refused to provide any information of what occurred to the officer. She showed no signs of physical injury and refused to answer the officerโs questions. The case is under investigation.
Nov. 19
11:15 a.m.: A staff member reported feeling weak with flu-like and high blood pressure symptoms in the Academic and Clinical Research Building on the Harlingen campus. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported the staff member to Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen for further medical evaluation.
2:48 p.m.: A student reported that a fake social media account profile was created under her name. She suspects her non-affiliated ex-boyfriend created the social media profile.
Nov. 20
2:39 p.m.: A student reported that a Christmas decoration and air freshener device were stolen from the Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg campus.
11:51 p.m.: While assisting a stranded driver off campus in Brownsville, an officer observed the non-affiliated man showed signs of intoxication. The driver failed the sobriety tests at the scene and was arrestested on a charge of driving while intoxicated. During an inventory of the vehicle for impound purposes, a white powdery substance was found and later tested positive for cocaine. The driver was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center for a blood draw and subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Nov. 21
1:51 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the Edinburg Research Education Building in reference to a staff member who fainted and hurt his back. Emergency medical services arrived on the scene to evaluate the man, but he declined services.
6:30 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at East University Boulevard in Brownsville. Upon further investigation, the officer determined the vehicle displayed a wrong license plate. The license plate was confiscated by the officer and the driver was issued a warning.
Nov. 22
9:04 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in Lot E11 on the Edinburg campus. Upon contacting the non-affiliated male driver, the odor of burnt marijuana was detected in the vehicle. The driver admitted he had a vaporizer containing THC oil. A presumptive test revealed positive results. The vaporizer and cartridge were seized as evidence. K9 Officer Odin indicated the presence of a narcotic odor on the front driverโs side floorboard. A search of the vehicle determined no further contraband. The man was placed under arrest and transported to the Edinburg City Jail. The vehicle was released to the passenger, who is the registered owner of the vehicle.
Nov. 24
2:09 p.m.: An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation off campus in Edinburg. A check on the non-affiliated driver revealed several misdemeanor warrants out of the Kleberg County Sheriffโs Office. The warrants were for driving while license suspended and failure to appear. The driver was arrested and transported to the Hidalgo County Jail. He was issued a written warning for the traffic violation.
