Mass communication freshman Agustin Salazar plays for the UTRGV Menโs Tennis Team. Salazar graduated from McAllen Memorial High School. He recently won the Singles H Draw Championship 3-0 at the University of Texas at San Antonio Jauer Roadrunner Invitational.
Q: What do you do for fun outside of tennis?
A: โOutside of tennis, I like to watch tennis or watch Formula 1 [racing] or play video games. Either that or spend time with friends.โ
Q: What movies or shows do you like?
A: โI love Marvel movies. โStar Warsโ movies, anything Marvel or โStar Warsโ related, I really like. I like the Formula 1 TV show, the Netflix series [โFormula 1: Drive to Surviveโ].โ
Q: What kind of music do you like?
A: โAnything in Spanish, reggaeton, corridos, antiguas. I really like โExperimento,โ โMi Niรฑa,โ โNo Sigue Modas,โ โAlgo Me Gusta de Ti,โ โCalma.โโ
Q: Who is one of your role models?
A: โEither Roger Federer or [race car drivers] Sergio Pรฉrez or Carlos Sainz Jr.โ
Q: What has been your proudest moment?
A: โTenniswise, thereโs two: getting third in state when I was in high school and, now with UTRGV, winning the UTSA tournament. In high school, it was the State Tennis Tournament UIL 5A. Winning the UTSA tournament with UTRGV, itโs called Roadrunner Invitational, that was like three weeks ago.โ
Q: Do you have any fun facts about yourself?
A: โEven though Iโm an athlete, I donโt eat that good. I eat a lot of junk, but I burn it off right away. I really, really enjoy cars, like, anything about cars, like racing. I started playing tennis when I was 4. I give tennis lessons.โ
