Q: What’s a fun fact about yourself?
A: “I’m from the [Rio Grande] Valley. I played baseball before I played golf. I used to be really into baseball.”
Q: What got you into golf?
A: “My dad would take us whenever we didn’t have any baseball tournaments … and so we would just go out–me, my brother and my dad. And then, eventually, we found out that we could do it competitively. We just started doing that and became pretty good at it.”
Q: Why did you continue it?
A: “We were always, like, a driven family. We always had to be doing something, and so golf was a good way for us to learn discipline and work towards something, like day in and day out. And I think that’s a good lesson you learn going on through your life.”
Q: What’s your go to game day meal?
A: “I guess, since we tee off in the mornings, it’d be scrambled eggs, bacon and a little bit of hot sauce on the eggs.”
Q: Do you have a favorite golf player?
A: “I have to say Jordan Spieth probably.”
Q: What do you like to do for fun outside of golf?
A: “Outside of golf, I like to hang out with my friends a lot. We’ll go fishing and hunting. And that’s a lot of fun, but I’m very casual at it.”
Q: What’s your favorite music genre?
A: “Probably classic rock.”
Q: Do you have a favorite movie?
A: “Right now, probably ‘Good Will Hunting.’”
Q: What keeps you going everyday?
A: “I guess just the drive. I love getting up and looking forward to something and working. You know, whatever it is, it’s just something to work towards, and it kind of gives you just a productive mindset.”
Q: What would you say is your biggest goal?
A: “I guess my biggest goal is to fully commit to the things that I’m doing. I don’t want to just half commit to anything. I want to go all in in everything I do.”
Q: Do you have a favorite song?
A: “‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles.”
Q: What do you like most about UTRGV?
A: “It’s home to me, so the community is very supportive of everything that we do. I feel like everyone works towards one goal here. That’s a pretty good energy to be around.”
