From student organizations to local businesses, The Stomp brought everyone together for one night to celebrate the new school year.
Due to inclement weather, the Edinburg campus moved the celebration from the Quad to the University Recreation Building.
โEverybody enjoys the REC anyway,โ said Julius Marquez, a supervisor for the Intramural Sports Department. โThey might not even know The Stomp is going on, but they may be coming over to work out and theyโll notice this is going on. So, thatโs probably the reason why we have so many people.โ
It was the first time the university invited businesses to the event and after witnessingย the student body, they will be ready for next year.
โObviously this is a good opportunity to mingle with students and show you what weโre all about,โ said Mario Luvianos, an AT&T retail sales consultant.
Red Velvet, a Brownsville cover band composed of Chris Garcia, Adolfo Garcia, J Cifuentes and Freddy De La Garza, performed on stage.
โWe thought it was a great event,โ said Chris Garcia, the lead vocalist. โThe turnout was better than we anticipated and the response we got from the crowd was fantastic. The students were very welcoming.โ
