Q: What was your favorite thing about Vaquero Roundup?
A) Rodriguez: “I really liked the amount of people and, like, the diversity of people. There was so much to explore and so much to do. It was so overwhelming, but it was so amazing, honestly.”
A) Tijerina: “I really like the community vibe. You really do feel like you’re part of a new family, like entering as a freshman, you’re all over the place. You’re, like, so high school is done and what’s next? But I feel like I’m gonna fit in here more than high school, because of the UTRGV community.”
Q: What is one thing that can be improved about Vaquero Roundup?
A) Rodriguez: “I mean, I know, like, we are all a little nervous, but I wish we could’ve, like, interacted a bit more. Because there’s so much people and so much things to learn about people that we don’t know about. So, I wish that we could’ve … talked or like had some sort of interactions, like, a bit more, but that’s just me. I don’t know.”
A) Tijerina: “To add on to that, I would say to people with similar majors that they should be all grouped up so that they meet each other, and they are not nervous on day one, and you already have a friend first day of school.”
Q: Is there anybody you guys met during Vaquero Roundup?
A) Rodriguez: “I’m actually not sure … again, I just wished we could’ve had more interactions so that way I could’ve in some way.”
A) Tijerina: “Mostly just professors.”
Bonus Question: Do you guys know the name of our mascot?
A) Rodriguez: “I kind of forgot.”
A) Tijerina: “No.”
Bonus Question: And what about our school colors?
A) Tijerina: “It would be orange, gray and green.”
A) Rodriguez: “Yup, orange, gray and green.”
