The University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley Menโs Basketball Team ended its five-game losing streak tonight against the University of Missouri-Kansas City, defeating the Roos 76-64.
Throughout the first half, Kansas City maintained the lead, but as the game progressed UTRGV was able to overcome the difference.
โWe got to get them off the glass,โ Missouri-Kansas City Basketball Head Coach Billy Donlon said during halftime. โTheyโre killing us on the glass, theyโre running it down our throats, theyโre playing harder and tougher. Weโll lose this game if we donโt play harder and tougher than them.โ
After the second half, UTRGV had complete control of the game.
Hitting double digits in tonightโs game, UTRGV graduate student guard Jordan Jackson understands the importance to lead by example.
โYou know, at this point, we just have to lead … vocally, emotionally and physically,โ Jackson said. โEverything we have to [do is] make sure everybodyโs minds are in it.

UTRGV Menโs Basketball Head Coach Lew Hill was satisfied with his teamโs performance and continues to win the rest of the games.
โI hope we win the rest of the games,โ Hill said. โThis was a good day, good momentum, like I told you, this was a must win for us today. We could not lose the game.โ
The Vaqueros are now 5-10 overall. They will face Chicago State University at 7 p.m. Saturday in the UTRGV Fieldhouse.
